Creating those moments, those opportunities for children to
imagine what they could be is magical in its long term impact.
THIS IS WHY THE MARDY FISH CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION EXISTS.
INVESTING IN MFCF IS AN INVESTMENT IN A CHILD’S FUTURE, IN THEIR DREAMS AND IN THEIR ASPIRATIONS.
THE RETURNS MAY NOT BE REALIZED FOR YEARS, BUT
PLANTING JUST ONE SEED CAN SOMETIMES GROW INTO
THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION
YOU WILL EVER MAKE.
MORE THAN TENNIS
THE MARDY FISH CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION PROVIDES A RICH CURRICULUM OF CREATIVE PROGRAMS.
These programs embrace and incorporate the principles outlined in Mardy's Six Healthy Habits as our core principles. Each of our programs are designed to balance youth development while enriching children's lives through physical activity and nutritional education. Our focus on Mardy's Six Healthy Habits as MFCF's core principles, which are endorsed by several leading Vero Beach pediatricians, lays a strong foundation to build the competencies necessary for the future of our two major programs: Kids on Court and Kids in Motion.
KIDS ON COURT
Kids on Court in partnership with LOTA Sports offers year round tennis programs to all students of Indian River County. Reaching more than 1000 children each year, Kids on Court teaches the fundamentals of tennis while instilling life building skills such as Mardy’s Six Healthy Habits, good sportsmanship and good listening. "Tennis players scored higher in vigor, optimism and self-esteem while scoring lower in depression, anger, confusion, anxiety and tension than other athletes and non-athletes according to Dr. Joan Finn and colleagues at Southern Connecticut State University"
Jack L. Groppel, Ph.D. USTA.COM
Founded by Mardy Fish, the former # 7 tennis player in the World, the Mardy Fish Children's Foundation collaborated with Pelican Island Elementary School in the Fall of 2007 providing enrichment and tennis programs. These programs provided a safe environment for children to go and participate in such activities as music, dance, art and sports. The Foundation has since grown to 15 elementary schools and 4 middle schools currently serving over 2,500 children in K-8th Grade.
The Foundation is now stronger than ever, with the recruitment of new leadership, the addition of more volunteers and advisors; and a new, heightened commitment and partnership with schools, teachers, families and community. This enables the Foundation to teach children to make better choices, empowering them by encouraging physical fitness, emphasizing healthy eating habits, and explaining how to have a positive self-image.

"Since tennis requires alertness and tactical thinking, it may generate new connections between nerves in the brain and thus promote a lifetime of continuing development of the brain, reported scientists at the University of Illinois." Jack L. Groppel, Ph.D. USTA.COM
In partnership with the School District of Indian River County, MFCF provides children opportunities to participate in fitness, nutritional and enrichment programs to prepare them to live healthy and productive lives.
We use sports as our textbook but teaching a child the skills to learn to reach beyond their grasp is the most important lesson we will ever deliver.
